Dr. Gregg Stefanek Joins Northwind to Lead Nexus of Care Initiative

INDIANAPOLIS, June 21, 2023 – Northwind has announced the addition of Gregg Stefanek, DO as Senior Vice President of Nexus of Care.

“Healthcare is at an inflection point,” said Phillip Berry, CEO. “Rising costs, barriers to access, struggles with quality, and a general sense of frustration, are driving self-funded employers to engage innovators like Northwind to help solve these problems.”

“Gregg gets it. Years of experience as a primary care physician and his role as Medical Director leading multiple health centers for a Fortune 50 company have given him clear insight into the challenges and opportunities within our healthcare system. Gregg knows what needs to happen to improve individual health while helping the self-funded employer influence healthcare spend and steward total population health.”

Gregg Stefanek, DO, BBA, started his career with an accounting degree from the University of Notre Dame, then felt the call to medicine. Graduating with a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State, he has over thirty years of experience in direct patient care in all areas of Family Medicine and expertise in the delivery of healthcare at the local, state, and national levels. Dr. Stefanek lead his privately-owned practice through culture transformation in the Patient Centered Medical Home model of care, shifted into a fully-owned hospital system practice, and most recently led on-site medical centers in multiple states as a Family Physician & Medical Director for a fortune 50 company. He joins Northwind to help self-funded plan sponsors create a Nexus of CareTM to manage costs and outcomes for plan members.

“Some think our medical system is broken, but it is perfectly designed to get the results it gets. We have an expensive, inefficient, system resulting in undesirable outcomes that rewards doing things to patients or for them but not with them. More effort is placed in trying to grab a piece of the healthcare pie than is spent in helping people navigate our complex system as they try to take care of themselves. Well-being is not a catch phrase for me. Helping people feel better about themselves to live the life they want to live is a passion and a life-long goal. I am excited to join Northwind and explore the opportunity that lies ahead.”

Northwind offers a national health and pharmacy services platform that brings the logistics of drug distribution and home delivery pharmacy together with analytics, health & pharmacy benefits management, Clinical BlueprintsTM, and RxStewardTM software, to help self-funded employers create a Nexus of CareTM to influence healthcare costs and outcomes for their plan members.
